EXPLORING THE BOROUGH'S RICH HERITAGE
  • Vicar John Haile of Isleworth was martyred in Henry VIII's time. Because he would not bow to the king's demands he was tied to a hurdle, dragged on the ground for miles to Tyburn, and then hanged.

  • Over 200 civil war soldiers perished during the 1642 Battle of Brentford.

  • Artists Hogarth and Turner are among the famous who once lived within the Borough.

Facts like these are the life blood of the Hounslow Heritage Guides Association. Formed over 10 years ago, a range of regular guided walks take place during June to October each year.

All are taken at a gentle pace, last around 90 minutes. Private walks tailored to choice are available by prior arrangement. Similarly several of the guides are able to offer illustrated talks.

As well as taking part in the walks visitors can also explore such gems as Robert Adam’s masterpiece Syon House, Chiswick’s magnificent Palladian villa, Boston manor, a fine Jacobean mansion, and Osterley House, born of Tudor origins, each surrounded by splendid parkland.
